invisible attributes

Sometimes I create an attribute, for instance with an "attributefromvolume" SOP, to control something like the length of hair strands, but the attribute won't become visible in the "guideprocess" SOP no matter what I try.

I have to manually type the name of the attribute into the "Length Attrib" field for it to become active.

Is this a known issue ? And is there something that can be done to make Houdini somehow see freshly created attributes ?

I think that is by design. You have to specifically let the node know want to control the length from an attribute.

Hey thanks.

Of course, but I'm wondering why there's a dropdown menu that doesn't seem to work, because Houdini wont show the available attributes to control the guides.

So I initially assumed I was doing something wrong creating the attribute somehow, but that wasn't the case. Because when I manually typed the name into the in input field, it worked just fine.

Another bug ?
