Overview ¶
This tool uses VDB to Spheres to generate proxy geometry for the RBD objects. A compound collision shape built from many spheres can be much faster to simulate, particularly for concave geometry.
This tool is similar to the RBD Convex Proxy tool on the Rigid Bodies shelf. However, instead of generating a compound collision shape built from several convex hulls, it builds the shape from many spheres.
Using RBD Sphere Proxy ¶
-
Select the geometry to convert to an RBD sphere object.
-
Optionally, define the pieces to be fractured. For example, using the Shatter tool.
-
Click the RBD Sphere Proxy tool on the Rigid Bodies tab.
-
Modify the parameters of the VDB from Polygons SOP and the VDB to Spheres SOP, if necessary, to adjust the voxel size used and the maximum number of generated spheres.
-
Switch the display flag to the Transform Pieces SOP to see the original geometry transformed based on the motion of the proxy objects.
For specific parameter help see the RBD Packed Object or VDB to Spheres help.
