Renderman - Houdini pipeline and env variables ...

H8i All,

I hope you can help me …

I am lucky enough to have PRman ( tutor license) .. it is all setup and working well, and I would like to be able to render from Houdini … it does render actually, but the only thing is the shaders do not appear in the material view. I have defined a export variable on my bashrc file pointing to the ri_shaders directory in the houdini installation directory , but still the shaders don't appear in the material view, which would be nice.

Any suggestions to how can I get Houdini to see my hand written shaders, and the ones in the Houdini directory too !!..

as described here, you can use slo2otl.py to make digital assets from your shaders. if you have these otls in your normal otl scanned paths they will appear in your tab menu.

I had a similar problem with 3delight and the trick that did it was to set the preferences>rendering to the correct renderer.
