Settling Flip

I can't seem to get the Flip solver to ‘settle’. I know it's generally suggested for moving fluids, such as a river, but I have a shot that requires both a moving fluid to then react / pour into a tub/pool of water. It works great for moving stuff, but the part that needs to be settled at the beginning of my shot is essentially boiling and collapsing… which makes for bad sims. Is there any way to get it to settle properly? I've attached (H11) a very simple example which is pretty much default – by frame 240 it's lost some of it's volume (this example isn't even that bad), and also continues to ‘stir’ the entire time. I've tried a bunch of things, most seem to make it worse. I'm hoping there's an easy ish fix for this.
