Have you ever seen Houdini HIP files to become obscenely large for no
apparent reason?
To put this in perspective, I have a 228 meg scene that has a boulder, and a few rocks
on a plane with a couple small grass pieces on the ground.
One thing that is quite alarming is the following:
I have been saving sequentially, and file #16 is 114 megs…. file #17 is 228
megs… however there are only *MINOR* changes from #16 to #17…. Nothing to
even warrant a 1 meg file increase in my opinion.
Obscenely large HIP files - VERY big

Hi there,
It was a bug in the early 5.5 releases that has been fixed. I would recommend contacting SESI to get the latest available 5.5 version. In the meantime, you should copy & paste all the networks - Objects, POPs, ROPs, etc - from the “bloated” hip file to a new Houdini, save then continue with that.
Cheers!
