Hello

Windows 7 64 SP1
I5-2400 @ 3.10GHZ
4GB ram
behind a proxy that requires authentication

I installed Houdini Apprentice and got the licence via the sidefx site because Houdini coudn't get it directly from internet.

When I launch Houdini I get this in the console :

Exception in thread Thread-1:

self.run()

File “Dsoft/Houdini12/houdini/python2.6libs\sas\localassets.py”, line 238, in check_for_asset_updates
raise e
URLError: <urlopen error getaddrinfo failed>

Then when I create a cube ans hit enter to place it in the center I get this :

3696: Fatal error: Segmentation Fault

Saving application data to cusers/rthriller/AppData/Local/Temp/crash.untitled.rthriller_3696.hip

Houdini crashes.

Any help is welcome.

Look in that Temp directory. Is there a crash log in there you can post?

I can't help with the crash, but I think the initial error messages you are getting are not directly connected to this issue. I do get the same errors when behind a proxy - I assume it's Houdini trying to synchronize the assets from the orbolt store. I don't get these error messages when the computer has direct access to the net.
I have not seen any crashes related to the issue on my side.
cheers, carsten
