Hi everyone,
I have a little problem with the whitewater solver, I have a fluid simulation, very simple, with some rbd objects. My fluid simulation has been cached out. But when I want to solve the whitewater, I have a warning message on the solver itself (on the screenshot).
I found on this forum that it might be because of the preferences, so I uninstalled Houdini, deleted the preferences, etc. Everything was back to default. But I still have the same problem… And it works perfectly fine with a new scene and a little water sim. So, what is the problem ?
I tried also without the “file” node, just with the fluid sim, and I still have this message error.

LewulYeah it's possible. I think it needs the Surface and vel fields, so you'd have to include those in the .bgeos as well.
Is it possible to emit whitewater from a bgeo fluid sequence ? Or it needs all the things like velocity ?
If you are using 12.5, and setting this up with the shelf tools - this is already configured for you if you write out the FLIP to .bgeos with the DOP I/O-node located in the node where your FLIP gets meshed. Specify where you want the files to go, as well as the frame range under “Export to file” - and just hit render. When it's done you just check “Load from disk”. Then you can use the Whitewater-shelftool and it will be calculated from your cached FLIP-sim.

Oh ok, I thought that the format .bgeo was like the obj. one.

I hope that the whitewater will be able to “find” the .bgeo… (because it's always my fear with things like upres or whitewater, does it needs to be genereted only with a dop newtork simulating the lowres or the fluid…).

I just find this out after 20 Hrs of simming using hqueue with distribute , I saw my foam was sinking as well, turns out the distribute shelf tool created rop output had missing fields inorder ww to work, I changed the output rop to the correct one from Hqueue submitter and now it works… Maybe this is the reason why slicing wasnt working as well, I will update oinformation about this soon

Hi, I´m having the same problem with the missing Surface and vel fields. When I generate the whitewater using the shelf tools it works perfectly with my cached fluid (I used Dop I/O for caching). But if I try to make the whitewater from scratch I got that exact error as OP, I checked the data and I have both the surface field and vel field, but the Whitewater Solver somehow doesnt get them.
As I say, with the shelf tools it works great, but I wanted to understand what I´m missing by doing it node by node, thanks!

figured that the shelf tool export to file node also export some fields that are used by white water solver, so just add those fields if you are not using the shelf tool, and everything will be fine.
