Hi everyone,
I have some questions about rendering (in PBR).
Does it takes more time to enable “Polygon as Subdivision (Mantra)” for a mesh during the render ? Or is it better to subdivide it in sop ?
It seems that it takes a lot of time to render displacement, it may seems like a stupid question, but is displacement increasing my render time ?
Does the map filter (Catmull-Rom, Gaussian, etc.) can make a big difference with render time ? EDIT : What is the faster filter ? I notice that Gaussian is more slower than Catmull-Rom (and really thought that it was not the case). And the texture resolution ? And if I convert my texture in .rat, will I see a big difference in render time ?
I know that all these questions may seems simple, and I have my idea about the answers, but I just want to be sure !
Thanks a lot,
Tom.

Hi Tom,
1- Yes. doing subdivision in SOP is a better idea (based on my experience)
2- Definitely it increases the render time… using bump map might help…
3- I think Gaussian is more slow. It depends on the resolution of the texture. However, using rat files is more efficient specially for animation rendering. (You will see a big difference)
