Hey guys, this is first test of tweak-like Stretch tool
http://youtu.be/lQKLndA9MC0 [youtu.be]
Awesome work vux!
Nice and clean…how about getting some visual feedback on the soft selection in there. It would be nice if the points would show the soft selection falloff color in the viewport ( like the current soft transform and soft peek tool in Houndini)
Are you going to sell this on orbolt?

Exactly ! And he doesn't understand me
There are many different ways to speedup modeling process.
In this case (unapproved) menu divided by 4 zones:
1. Left (RED) - operations that remove geometry (dissolve, clip, etc)
2. Right - operations that add geometry (extrude, etc)
3. Top - Create something + main edit (Delete history etc)
4. Bottom - transformation tools that doesn`t change topology (Tweak, Align etc)
PS Sory for bad english.

Also i think about context-sensetivity of menu.
I can add RMB menu that contains commands according to components-type.
And it can depends on place where you pressed it. For example if no geo under the mouse it show view menu, in other case it show components menu. Something like in xsi.
Any remarks are welcomed!

ADHD Sheep!!!!
Guys, you are all basicaly want to copy all the features that you can find in Autodesk applications. One of them is already dead, and second is not the best example of smooth workflow for modeling.
Think outside the box. Or should I say, “Think outside the Autodesk”.
There is Modo, Cinema4D and couple other applications that have cool things going on in their workflows. Take inspiration from them too.
Hotbox even when customized have nothing on Modo. Especially customized Modo.

Stop arguing loony!!! Stay with Houdini 13 and your create polygon tool and do what you want.
I repeat for the especially stupid
I dont want to copy any of MODELING & UI feature from maya or any other AD software (excluding XSI). I used maya about ~13 years. And most of last 8 years i worked on changing maya ui and modeling and NEVER USED HOTBOX for modeling

IMO the best 3d-modeling-application examples are: XSI, Lightwave Modeler and, of cource, Silo

You are still missing Paint Effects there. Are they coming in next iteration?

Blender has ton of cool things too. Shortcuts in it beats everything we have in H14 by a long shot.
With H14 I fell like SESI made the same mistake Microsoft did with Windows 8. With Windows 8 users had to do more clicks to do the same they could in Windows 7. Microsoft gone back to the drawing board and fixed some things with Windows 8.1 and now with Windows 10 they are back with many old things.
In H14 we have to press more buttons to do the same we could do with less in H13. That's wrong. Learn from Microsoft mistake guys.

Alright, I say let's stick with tangible suggestions for improvements or if you feel that something went backwards from good to worse, also specify and explain how's that true.
Not contesting that it's not true nor the the opposite, I'm just want to stick to specifics so that we can provide useful feedback for SESI necessary for any changes we consider to be necessary.
mantragora, what exactly should be changed back? Shoot!

1. If SESI wants to revamp selections they should start by providing all the old functionality FIRST and THEN expand on it. Instead they removed many options and what we got back sometimes require from us to click many times more or even doesn't have functional equivalent.
2. Why mouse LMB and MMB are doing the same? Why I can select with both?
3. When SHIFT is pressed RMB is doing nothing, maybe it could be used as Remove from selection? There are many more examples when Mouse buttons are free not doing anything and they could be used instead of additional keyboard modifiers.
4. Double LMB should create edge loop. Fast and simple.
I like Blender solution:

Some things could be adapted form it.

I think if they start to use double click as separate command it may speedup everything.
Double click on poligon -> select connected pieces
Double click on edge->select loop
Double click on border edge -> select border
Shift + Double click to do partial loop/ring selection
etc.
Yeah, I know its AD again…
This will free several hotkeys also

If old functionality is bad, then it should be removed not expand on it. Using two keys on the other side of the keyboard just for loop/ring selection was hardly a modeler's wet dream.
I don't know what options have been removed, so please explain. I know there was one “walking” IIRC or something like that and I must admit that I'm ignorant about it - never used a similar one in Softimage therefore I might not know what I'm missing.

2. Why mouse LMB and MMB are doing the same? Why I can select with both?
But they don't do the same. Are we talking about loop/ring selection? ‘Cause they don’t…

To remove from selection you press Ctrl, like you do in many OS's and 3d apps. Not that this should matter but it is convenient nonetheless.
Shift+RMB does nothing indeed and with this occasion I propose that we use this for a different menu to the simple RMB one. We'll think about something, I'm sure we'll run out of menus before of tools to put in them.

4. Double LMB should create edge loop. Fast and simple.
Simple yes, fast no.
When Adsk took over Softimage they implemented exactly this (to make Maya users feel more at home I presume) and I've had plenty of time to use it. To this day I still use the Softimage model (which is very similar to H14) because it's a lot faster.
Just think about it, what's faster:
1. Shift + double LMB to add to selection for each loop
2. hold Shift + MMB on each loop?
This is not the first time I ask this question and I still don't understand how someone can choose 1 over 2. It's basically one (1) click vs two (2) clicks, ergo double the work.
