How can you export bone animation from houdini to another package/game engine effectively with working bones?

isn't fbx the tool you are looking for?

Alternatively in CHOPs you have a few ways to do that and of course you could always write out your own custom format too.

Sorry, I didn't properly explained my problems. I am trying to make a pipeline for exporting characters with rigs for game engines and webgl engines like goo create. If I am understand correctly there are two problems: houdini rig structure is based purely on bones, but all other application work with joint based system; the second problem: there are no possibilities to include vertex caches in a fbx file, so it just got discarded. The fbx exporter in houdini have much less options then the one in maya/max.

houdini engine?

i don't think that will work with that engine….

but maybe the best way is to make a custom js script in the goo engine that can use the export option json file format from houdini. but that will be not a small task….

btw: i don't know if the bones system will be exported….
