Mantra, image sequence rendering problem

Hello

I've encountered a very strange Mantra issue.
I have a long render sequence and Mantra renders it just fine, but the problem is It suddenly stops for absolutely
no obvious reason.

interrupt it and hit “Render to disk”, It starts rendering till It stops again, around 6 to 300 frames ahead randomly.

and this story goes on and on.
I cached out the entire geometry and red it back with no luck. the same rendering interruption.

please let me know if something is wrong.

You could investigate the basic culprits, being heat and free disk space.

Monitor your system heat when rendering and make sure you have enough disk space available.

It kind of sounds like your problem might be hardware related. If you have a mechanical disk drive try running/scheduling a surface test. Perhaps one of your cached files is stored on a bad sector..?
Using Houdini Indie 20.0
Windows 11 64GB Ryzen 16 core.
nVidia 3050RTX 8BG RAM.

yes I analyzed every possible aspect, but no clear problem.
hardware was working perfectly.

in fact after a dozens of tries, It suddenly rendered right to the end.
remained mysterious to me.

did you use the principledshader or classicshader displcement?


I have a similar problem when i render with shader displcement in H16.0.557

but if i turn off the displacement (Texture or Noise)

this problem seems to be fixed

Try the latest production build [www.sidefx.com], H16.0.663, or the latest daily build [www.sidefx.com], H16.0.666. There was a displacement-related deadlock fixed a couple months ago in H16.0.600.
