I have been banging my head against a wall trying to figure out why I can be working on a file for days only to discover it has changed from a hiplc to a hipnc.
This mornings realisation that switching session modes looks to be permanent until restart. I have been opeing hipnc files for referance then reopening my hiplc file to make changes not realising it was being converted to hipnc as I save.
Is there a way of switching the session mode back to indie other that having to do a restart each time?

if you are just opening the NC file for reference, you could start a second Houdini session and open it that way, thereby preserving your LC.

just don't tell me you had an LC session and NC session going swimmingly….then you copied a node from the NC to LC ?

I am having exactly the same issue.
I am working on an indie file (lc) and somehow it just changes to apprentice (nc). This is really annoying!
Does anyone else have the same issues and a solution for it?

Update to the latest daily build and see if the same still happens.
There has been a fix regarding this issue not too long ago.

I am on 18.5.351 and the original post is from March 2020. So I think the problem was there before.
I am installing the latest daily build, figuring out, if the issue still exists.

Just installed 18.5.382, with unistallation of the old 18.5.351 version.
In the last hour it didn´t switch from Indie to Apprentice. I think this fixed the problem - fingers crossed.
