Bennell Are you planning to include methods for creating different-sized scales like these chameleon scales?

Sure yeah, there's already controls for size/density, but I think the variation like in your reference images would be more suited for the randomization tab,like a slider to control random size as a multiplier on the scale size.

alriiight, I reworked the density and size part of the HDA, I am veeeery happy with my progress today. I made an opencl version of the relax sop and that provides the speed, I have a working setup that allows you to directly control the size of the scales, and then it relaxes everything, much more intuitive than what it was. With that new setup, random sizes come for free ! woohoo

Here's another render to show my progress, added a whole bunch of stuff to the HDA, noises, colors, variations, Laid the groundwork for different scale types and reworked the whole size/density part ...

I've been working on fluid controls for the guide curves: Click drag to draw Click shift drag to delete drag+ctrl to Insert + mousewheel to choose insertion length.
Bennell Is there a way to export the scales as displacement or bump maps?
Hi Bennel, this crossed my mind, it's very low on the to do list though. First things first, working towards a first version to release. You can always use the existing baking tools inside Houdini of course
