Hi all,

I'm a real newb, and could use some help being pointed in the right direction, please.

I am looking to replicate something like the 2D animation below but in 3D space. Where concentric ripple circle "lines" (swept geometry?) emanate from a central point to illustrate soundwaves. Of course, this is something I could replicate in Adobe After Effects, etc., but I'm looking to run some simulations and have these "lines" bounce off walls. The blender video below also illustrates the effect I am after. Any ideas on how to procedurally create such a visual is very welcome. I'd even been got with there being no actual geometry simply having lines in the simulation. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Hey you should watch a couple of good tutorials by rohan dalvi and entagma which tackle just these two topics...

these videos from rohan dalvi show you how to drive animation by audio chops

this video from entagma shows you how to make 3D surface interference waves (with just sin waves).

I hope this helps you
