$FF expression doesn't work rendering slap comp from husk

I'm rendering an EXR sequence with a slap comp saved as an AOV/Render Product in the EXR file. I'm trying to render the sequence from a TOP net using USD Render File and an extra husk argument to include the slap comp, but I'm noticing that when I render, the resulting slap comp images have static noises when they should be animated.

The noises are Fractal Noise COP (Copernicus) nodes with offset driven by $FF parameter expression. The weird thing is that if I render from LOPs, the noises are animated fine.

I'm producing the Apex graph for the slap comp by grabbing the bgeo.sc file from the temp folder when I do a single frame render from MPlay. Not sure if this is the best way to do it, but I was getting the intended results from MPlay.

I'm using Houdini 20.5.332.
