Hey everyone, I’ve been running into a frustrating issue with Houdini 19.5 in Solaris and could use some help. I’m trying to import a large alembic file (around 10 GB, animated geometry with heavy poly count) into Solaris for lookdev, but Houdini crashes every time during the import process. I’ve tried splitting the alembic into smaller chunks using Maya, but it’s still crashing.
I’m on Windows 10, 64 GB RAM, RTX 3090, and using the latest Houdini build. I’ve already increased the cache size in preferences and checked for driver updates, but no luck. Has anyone dealt with this before? Are there specific settings in Solaris or alembic import options I should tweak to handle large files better? Or maybe a workflow to optimize the alembic before importing?
Any advice or workarounds would be super appreciated—really stuck on this one! Thanks!

Hi! You may want to log a bug for that if you haven't already. You're not doing anything wrong, but there may be parts of your geometry that Houdini isn't handling well, possibly because of degenerate triangles. It still shouldn't crash, obviously, but you could try some mesh cleanup.
