Here's my attempt at using rbd procedural.

It works much better. I load bgeo pts cache directly in tool, it takes 5-10s to load.
Forgive me for bad rbd sim:

Previously we done this with skeleton rbd bindings from Luca Scheller.

At some point I'll try this new rbd procedural on bigger scale. But for now it seems it doesn't have any problems with number of rbd pieces.

hey @Htogrom! I've been working on a destruction shot and I have a lot of sims with thousands of points. I'm fairly new to solaris and karma. I know this might be too much to ask but if possible, can you please send me a hip file or something like that explaining how to setup and render heavy rbd sims in solaris?

Here it is:

Have you figured out the correct workflow for RBD?

Hi all, I've been testing RBD procedural for a bit and they are really impressive.
The fact that we don't need to create thousands of primitives on the stage is a big improvement compared to the Transforms workflow.

I have a question though, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but it seems that I can't get any curved motion blur to work with the procedurals.

This is a simple example with some boxes (unpacked) rendered in Karma (Houdini 20.5):
- all the boxes are rotating
- the first two boxes on the left are also moving with different speeds

As you can see from this image, all the boxes have curved motion blur, specially the blue box on the right (that is only rotating):

Looking at the render with the procedural though, I can only see some linear motion blur, and the blue box doesn't seem to have any motion blur at all:

Am I doing anything wrong, or it's a limitation with the Procedurals?

I already had a look at the "Houdini Procedural: RBD" and the "RBD Destruction" page, but I can't find any info regarding motion blur.
Is there any file available that shows the right way of doing it?

Thanks

There seems to be a bug in the RBD Procedural not reading the points' "w" attribute when the "Points Location" is set to "Primitive" which is preventing it from getting rotational velocity. If you switch to "File Cache" the should get what you expect.

That's now fixed in Houdini 20.5.580

Hi Nick, thank for your reply.
I can confirm that it works fine using 20.5.580 build:

(tried on both Karma and Renderman )

Just out of curiosity, is acceleration blur supported as well? We might need to use it on some cases

Thanks
