Summary
I've been running Houdini Apprentice HD on my MacBook Pro since the beta but recently had to enable FileVault for security reasons while out of the office. After enabling FileVault I would launch Houdini and very basic tools would fail to run.
Steps to Reproduce
1.) Without FileVault enabled install and launch Houdini 9.5.230, verify basic tools work as expected
2.) Enable FileVault on the user account, relaunch Houdini and retest step 1
Configuration
• MacBook Pro 2.4GHz / 4GB RAM
• Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
• Mac OS X 10.5.5
Results
Basic tools to create geometry or do pretty much anything failed:
Regression
• Did not occur on initial installation
• Did occur after enabling FileVault
• Still occurred with FileVault enabled, but after uninstalling and reinstalling Houdini
• New problem occurred after disabling FileVault (see separate post…)
• Other applications work as expected after enabling FileVault
• Disk Utility Repair Permissions did not find any permissions issues (based on installdb of course…)
Enabling Mac FileVault led to common tools not functioning
