Is there any sort of mathematical formula behind the Houdini icon?

As I'm writing this I think I might have found it. Is it an Archimedean spiral with the formula r = a + bθ? If so, what might a and b be?

Also, what is the center's offset from the middle of the orange square?

You've heard of Freemasons and other historical organizations?

I suppose that's possible….I'm a little skeptical though.

But is it possible to make a larger version of the icon? I've seen a “splatter” one in the GDC Demo Reel.

Hey, how in hell did Cosmo Software (one of my all time favourite 3d apps.) get on that list and not Houdini/Sesi? SGI stopped developing it in the mid 90's :roll:
