In what way do you want to melt your object? Like plastic? Ice? T1000 model? I think you have to be a bit more specific.

Yes like the Terminator T1000 Model, I know there was a paper on this for realflow but not sure how it can be done in Houdini.

In a 3D world article I wrote a tutorial that used fluids to “reverse” melt a character. Here is the video that came out of that article:

This used particle-based fluids and you could easily reverse the process to melt a “particle” version of your character then use the particle fluid surfacer to put them back together again…
Here is the issue with the article from 2007:

I have went through this tutorial and used a sphere instead of the character but have a couple of questions about it.
1. How do you increase the force to remove the particles as i am left with quite a few around where the sphere comes up ?
2.why does the sphere not render ?

Hello Lyonz.
Your sphere isn't rendering because it is still in the form of points. You need to object merge the sphere into the Rocks_fluid object, attach a particle fluid surface node to the object merge and merge that with the particle fluid surface of the rocks. This should make your sphere render as well.
About the particles still remaining when your sphere has formed, I would just manipulate and keyframe the timing of the sphere rising and the magnet force in order to get a better result.

I also happen to be doing a similar project and since this thread has already been started, I thought I could post my question here …If it is okay.
Please find attached my .hip file. In my case, I am trying to get the small puddles move towards the bigger one. But I want the magnet force to affect only the small puddles and not the big one. I have been desperately trying to get this right and would like to get some guidance from anybody who has any knowledge on this.
