We are trying to run houdini in batch mode for non-rendering tasks on Amazon computers. (We are not using hqueue.) We are using ubuntu 10.

Can this be done? Can houdini be run in this way without a graphics card? At the moment, we are getting a ‘Segmentation Fault’ error when we try and open a hip file. (import hou works fine.)

I am guessing that the segmentation fault is related to the graphics card (or, actually, the lack of any graphics card). I am wondering if there are any environment variables that we can set that will force houdini into a non-graphical mode where no graphics card is required? (We have already set HOUDINI_OGL_SOFTWARE = 1)
