Hi,
Bit baffled here I can export my image planes as .exr files from mantra and view them on disk with Mplay, but in Nuke the image planes are blank with no information but the beauty render works fine. Any ideas ?

sure, here is the default beauty and also a matte image plane. Plus a scene file . I hope this is not a header issue !

Works fine for me in Nuke.
Don't forget since you aren't naming your planes in Houdini the channel names will be their vex variable name in Nuke. So a few Shuffle nodes might be needed, or just name the planes C in Houdini.
