…Pretty sure they always have a booth…
Looks like booth 707 from the SIGGRAPH 2014 exhibitor's list:

We used to be in 707. Now we will be in 901:

There are currently no plans for a user group or party. All of our presentations will happen at the booth. Details on what we are going to talk about will be announced as we get closer to the show.

So, any news about what they are up to show there? Maybe some new stuff?
Hopefully - most of the journal entries recently have been Houdini Engine updates which leads me to assume (heh) that the bulk of the development recently has been on beta material.
That or they're simply ignoring my bug/RFE submissions, also entirely possible.

I would very dissapointing to not have a usergroup.
I have been to 11 conferqnces, and woul definately say althoguh the parties were fun, the years with the houdini user groups were always one of my favorite events… the years it was a ug and party were even better but despite the fun at la live and the joint derivative party, the biggest memories are always being in a room with other procedural geeks gettig to have the mass honest reaction to feature announcements and seeing what other pros are doing and then mingling and talking nerd –which doesnt happen in web writeups. The year in the train station, i barely remember the party, but wont forget all the cexcitement around CORE talking about th willd or pushing limits on stealth, or seeing the new tools.
I am hoping to make it and would love to see it considered. Free beer can be gotten anywhere andisnt important, but itis definately the denter of houdini community comradery and would be happy to see a prman esq, nerdy whiteboard type metting in folding chairs with space to mingle, even over a party. Just my 2 cents, i guess.

Thanks for the feedback on user group meetings. It is great to hear that you have fond memories of meetings past.
This year we are putting all of our focus on the booth which is being set up to offer the same kinds of presentations which were traditionally reserved for the user group. Customer presentations, Houdini features and “maybe” a few sneak peeks will be running throughout the show offering a better chance for the Houdini community to get together and talk with SideFX and other Houdini artists.
Our reconfigured presentation area is free from a reception desk to allow for clear views of the stage by all. The reception will be at the back with the demo pods. The theatre will be running presentations for most of the day and since our booth is right at the front we will be easy to find.
Come and join us a the booth then let us know afterwards whether or not the theatre offered an appropriate hub for the community.
Robert
PS - since booth storage is limited there won't be any T-shirts handed out at the booth. We will have other SWAG items to celebrate the Houdini Engine and other announcements we will be making.

More than half of the journal entries over the last few months have been Engine-centric, I hope it isn't houdini's new primary focus.
Me too.
when i see what sesi has delivered last year and that till today no news about h13.5 is available i have the filing it will be a big announcement.
has somebody at least got some rumors what we will see? i can't wait till siggraph.. :-)

Also, any chance the talks from this years Siggraph will be online to view soon? http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2810&Itemid=226 [sidefx.com]
The one from Sony about ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’ looks very interesting!
