I just want to know that it is worth to spend money and time in learning houdini?

Not sure as whom wants to aim for average

In the end you earnings will come down to artistry, efficiency and efficacy, where you are working, what you are working on etc.

These days it's prudent to have a larger skill-set that has elements of compositing, 3d, photography, computer science, cinematography and the liberal arts if you want to succeed.

…minimum.. still aiming so low - aim high! It's probably best to ask at a training school of expected wages.

Sorry for the vagueness, as most people I know think fluidly and innovate to achieve artistic goals - they are always aiming for the moon

Here Is what I know, Daily rates at studios go from 100 Euros to 300+ from Junior to Senior FX artists. Not Software related, can be Maya can be Houdini etc.

You can also easily check these numbers at glassdoor website, just google it.

These numbers greatly differ from country to country depending on the GDP scale.

In addition to glassdoor.com, there is also vfxwages.org … not sure how good/accurate are either of them though.

Wages are a function of your experience and ability, how many people around you can do what you can do and of course if the company requesting your services can or can not live with your talent.

If you are on the top 10% of the artists like the Houdini community has been for years then you must expect a comfortable wage.

It is vague but unless you are more specific on the kind of work, location, etc… it is hard to asses.

take care

May be the question could be… am I going to earn more as an expert in Houdini than an expert in Maya? the short answer is yes (supply and demand)
