hello,
is it possible to make a mov file of the image sequence of the flipbook?
I don't see a MOV extension in the list.
using H14, ubuntu 12.04

Are you sure you can't just use .mp4 which pretty much replaced .mov files. They're practically the same thing according to wikipedia. On Linux, mplay just calls out to ffmpeg to do the encoding and ffmpeg supports .mov files as well. There's just no default preset for mplay to call ffmpeg to write out .mov files.
