Hello guys,
I have a scene where I need to break a tree in half from that middle but it shouldn't detach completely.
Do you think it is possible in houdini, if yes please help me with some reference or tuts.
have a look at the pic bellow. this is what I'm trying to get.

You can use the Solid shelf to set up a fracturing branch as well and use the FEM solver.
Model your branch.
Use the Fractured Solid Object tool in the Solid shelf.
On the Solid Object DOP, set the preset to Oak. Then adjust the stiffness back if need be.
Adjust the fracture threshold on the Solid Object DOP. Values between 0.001 and 0.01 seem to work.
Tweak the fracture set up in SOPs on the original Branch geometry to tweak where the cut is. Absolutely you can model the points around the fracture line. Yes you can model tets with the Edit SOP as you can polygons.
