Found a topic about this from 2005
I would love to know if there is a way to control the rendered frames a bit better.
say:
frame list style: 1-50,54,61,65,75,100,200,550-1000.
render it with a negative increment: 500-1.

I checked on textport ‘help render’ and seems there is nothing on that other than the -p flag, which just prints stuff..

Thoughts ?

Unfortunately this is still a domain of scripting. You can take a look into $HFS/bin/hrender.py and change it to support expressions like you've shown above. Fairly easy to do.
