Capture Paint bone selection annoyance

I thought I had posted this before but a search didn't reveal it…
anyway…

I have a series of HDAs (l_leg, r_leg, l_arm etc ) that are used in, suprise, a rig…then I capture my geometry to the bones inside the various HDAs…
when I use Paint Capture Layer and CTRL+click to select a bone inside one of the HDAs it highlights and operates correctly…BUT…when I CTRL+click to select a bone from a different HDA the original bone is still highlighted…
then when I exit the tool the last bone selected form each HDA used in the Paint Capture Layer tool remains highlighted (selected)…I have to go into a selection mode (Transform or Pose) and select empty space to remove the selection….

this behavior can be reproduced in the Houdini Biped Rig…


PS
using the Edit Capture Weights tool will also do this….
a single bone from each HDA that contributes to the weighting of the point(s) selected will remane highlighted(selected) when exiting the tool…
