Hi.
If you are using Maya 2020 and would like to export USD straight out of Maya. Autodesk have just released a compiled version of their plugin. It all seems to work well for basic geo.

You still need to use the Pixar USD plugin for Maya if you want support for Renderman materials, they don't work with the Autodesk build yet which seems pretty silly. VRay to my knowledge doesn't support USD so I'm not surprised their materials don't export.

Hi
For a more feature full set of tools for USD exporting out of Maya there is also this..
https://j-cube.jp/solutions/multiverse/ [j-cube.jp]
I used a version a few months back and it was very clean and easy to use. There is also a free version as well.
I am pretty sure they support Vray,Renderman, Arnold and 3Delight.
