Hi all,
I am experienced 3d user but new to Houdini. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I am trying to make a rope simulation that will be used in UE4. I have found a few things on Youtube that deals with ropes but nothing that would match what I am trying to do.
Basically I want the rope to be thrown out of a aircraft. One end of the rope is attached to the aircraft the other end would hit the ground below and people would then slide down the rope. I need the rope to start out in a pile and have a character kick or push it out of the aircraft. (
See the screen shot attached.)
Any advice or info would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

I have done something similar with cables instead of ropes. The cables were interacting with other objects as well. You could use a vellum simulation on the rope and then export the vellum simulation as an Alembic.
Import the Alembic as a Skeletal animation into Unreal with No Compression to have it look right too.
