does anyone know why when importing an fbx all the parameters turn brown?

When Auto Takes is on parameters unchanged in current Take are such color

It usually means you are in non-main take which may be the case when importing fbx at object level as FBX import can import animation clips as takes

so first of all I'd turn off Auto Takes as it can be very dangerous if you are uaware
and then switch take to Main, unless you intend to be viewing different take
