Gang:
Since upgrading to H20, I intermittently run into an issue where I can’t use Alt-LMB to navigate while the Handle Tool is active, I get a context menu instead. Unfortunately, I can’t figure-out how to reproduce or clear it when it happens … anyone else run into this?
Cheers,
Tim

Yes, apparently now you have to escape the current tool or switch to cam tool in order to use navigation, as support put it "it's that way by design™" :/
I haven't had that experience. Just hold down the key to temporarily enable the camera state, that's what the spacebar (or alt key if enabled) are for.

Actually, this has been the case for as long as I’ve been using Houdini - as @jsmack says, you use the spacebar or alt to temporarily switch to the cam tool for navigation. What I’m describing is that space and alt don’t always seem to work now. It’s as if there’s some mode where they don’t work, and I’m triggering it without knowing how.

I’ve been running into this on two separate machines, so not a hardware problem. However, your dropped-event suggestion eventually helped clarify what’s happening. If I RMB-click in the Solaris viewport to pop up a context menu, then - depending on how I dismiss the menu - subsequent use of the spacebar or alt doesn’t switch to the Camera Tool, so then the context menu pops up every time I use RMB. To get out of this state, I have to LMB-click-and-release in the viewport, and things start working again. I still can’t get into this state reliably every time, but I’ve got enough now for a bug report.
Cheers,
Tim
