What does this error message mean? "load failed on plugin com.TopazLabs.VideoEnhance"

I have no idea why Houdini is trying to connect to Topaz.

What am I missing?

Houdini 20.5 (Copernicus specifically) can digest OpenFX plugins, and when OpenFX plugin paths are set in the environment where it launches, it will try to touch them.

I am also getting this warning in Houdini 20.5.332. How to get rid of it?

This is the error message.

load failed on plugin com.TopazLabs.VideoEnhance
load failed on plugin com.TopazLabs.FrameInterpolation

Copy the 'COPopenfxdenylist' file from "C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 20.5.###\houdini" to your Houdini preferences folder and edit it to include the plugins you want to ignore.

**plugin_to_ignore**

All your OpenFX plugins are located here: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX"

I'm still the same warning.

I added the following lines to the deny list and copied the file to "C:\Users\myusername\OneDrive\Documents\houdini20.5" where all my houdini preferences are located by default.

**Topaz Video AI.ofx.bundle**
**Topaz Video AIframeinterpolation.ofx.bundle**

I got the above names from names of folders located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins

That's strange, it blocks them for me.
If I don't block OFX plugins, Houdini takes significantly longer to load, and the RAM usage increases.
In theory, it shouldn't load these OFX plugins into RAM, but it does.
This is one of the things I disliked about C4D, every single plugin is loaded at startup, turning it into a bloated mess.
It would be great if Houdini could load OFX plugins on demand, only when the user actually drops the ofx node in COPs.

I got rid of the error by deleting the spaces in the Topaz plugins folder names.
In here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins

Hi, if you can't get the deny list working, as a final backstop we've also got a environment variable called
HOUDINI_DISABLE_OPENFX_DEFAULT_PATH
which if you set to 1 it will disable entirely scanning of
C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins
and only look in directories explicitly listed in the OFX_PLUGIN_PATH environment variable.

Thanks CYTE. I'll try it out. Did it affect the performance of Topaz AI in any way?

Edit. The trick worked flawlessly! Brilliant!

Even if I delete the houdini config folder the same message keeps poping up along with the previous neatvideo plugin error...
