Hello
I'm struggling with the New Rig Car Follow path SOP. There's a strange behavior on the steering wheels at the end of the animation that I cannot remove. I tried resampling, smoothing, etc and there's always a wonky rotation in the end... What might be causing that?

And also playing with the Dynamic Springs, I noticed the physics is applied to the wheels... shouldn't the wheels be isolated from the physics, so only the body of the vehicle has the springs fx?

Hi Jose,

Do you have a hip file you could share for me to look at? I can't seem to repro the wonky rotation issue.

For the dynamic springs, they affect the car body after which another pass of wheel/ground collisions is applied - this is to ensure they don't penetrate the ground as the body gets re-oriented.

Hi Nick
Thanks for your response. Let me mention the asset you guys put together is aweomse!
Sure, see attached the hip file.
Sorry I didn't get what you mean about collision passes. If I turn "Dynamic Springs" toggle ON, the entire car woobles with the wheels also... am I missing something?
Thanks

Hi Jose,

Thanks for that file, it was very helpful.

I've backported the fixes and they'll be available with 20.5.376

Hi,

I also have some difficulties getting RBD Car Follow Path to work in conjunction with a heightfield.
I first added the rbd car rig. Then I added Dynamic Follow Path via Quick Setups.
After adding a curve and setting keyframes on Curve Position was done, I tried to add a heightfield to the rbdbulletsolver.
But as soon as I add the heightfield to the rbd solver, the car and proxies disappear and an error/warning appears on the rbdbulletsolver:
rbd_object - ./dopnet/bulletsolver1/bulletrbdsolver: Required point attribute "name" not found

What am I doing wrong?
I'm on Houdini Indie 20.5.487 und Win11.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Ok, as soon as I filecache or stash the heightfield, it's working as expected.
Sorry! My bad.
