I'm tying to create an hda that will auto-populate variants from a Usd object that includes variants. I've figured out how to make my HDA work as intended with the exception that a new node doesn't force the default variant selection on input connection. I have to manually select every variant to get them to work.
As you can see from the pic above the variant selector says purple for Color and cylinder for Shape but the display shows a red circle. If I manually select purple and cylinder it acts correctly. I'd really like it if the node and the variant options are the same regardless of whether the user selects each specific variant.
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong or is there a better way to approach this problem?
