I'm thinking about upgrading my hardware after a few years. and since I'm starting to work with Houdini for simulations and some photogrammetry projects along with other projects like animation and vfx. I would like to ask for any suggestions or if someone has experience with these 2 CPUs i'm gonna mention.

so I'm trying to decide between threadripper 7970x 32core and intel 14900k 24core.
but since 14900k only have 8 performance cores, but at higher clock speed, does it mean it will also be close to threadripper with 32 cores at lower speed for simulations ? i couldn't find any information about if houdini uses all 24 cores of 14900k for simulation or other modeling nodes like remeshing.

the CPU price (and motherboard) does make a huge difference which i'm not sure if threadripper is really going to worth the extra money i'm gonna put into it if 14900k is not that far behind.
