Hi there,

I just wanted to hear from you folks: where do you go for posting/downloading hdas/tools these days? Is Orbolt even still a thing? I know I haven't been there in forever...
I'm planning on making some tools available but want to make them easy to find and get.

Cheers,

Orbolt is abandonware, don’t use it. SideFX doesn’t really maintain any distribution tools. I think most use thirdparty like Gumroad, or Github.

Also note, your licenses follows the hda. Tools made with an Indie HDA will only be usable to Indie users. Distributing through Orbolt supposably fixes this, but it’s a dead and dysfunctional website so in practice it doesn’t resolve the issue.

I don’t think they prioritize smaller hda/tools developers, there’s no solid pipeline for sharing or maintaining these type of tools.

Orbolt seems to be still used though. I mean, it needs a revamp, but some assets there are as recent as last september...
I'd really like to use it though, mainly because of the license lock. It'd be great if the orbolt pipeline could be sold as a service.
