Currently we're loading Redshift with a package file in the user pref folder on each machine. However, some projects are only using Karma. Is it possible to unload Redshift or any package at the project/shot level? If so, how?

You can start Houdini by running a .bat file. In that file, you can define the Houdini and RS versions per project.

Do you mean unloading redshift at runtime or to skip loading redshift on startup ? Unloading the redshift package at runtime is not possible yet, should be possible with the next 20.5 production build update (i.e. hou.ui.unloadPackage or with the package browser). However, unloading redshift will not unload the dso resources.

If you need to prevent redshift from loading on startup, you can modify your package to set HOUDINI_PATH conditionally with an array variable as documented [www.sidefx.com].

I want to skip loading at startup. I'll take a look at the link and see what I can do. We're updating to 20.5 soon, so I'll check out those options as well. Thanks.

We use Rez and Prism which comes with a Launcher that lets you choose version & environment variables based on the selected project.
