Noticed that qt6 beta builds were announced.
Curious what is driving the switch? What can we expect qt6 to help with in the future?

Qt 6 is required in the 2024/2025 VFX reference platform, so it helps interoperability with other apps.

Oh. I thought USD and material x were for interop and qt was more for UI development.

It is but studios also do their own UI development using Houdni (PySide) as well. I think more importantly, you need to upgrade for bug fixes. Qt 5.15 went to end of life in 2023, however paid subscribers got an extension on this to 2025. The industry as a whole decided to move up to Qt 6.
