How does one go about modifying the Grain Shelf Tool's shape and material? For example, change the shape from a sphere to a box or change the material to glass or metal.

I'm trying to do this with the “Dry Sand” tool. I've only been able to change the color (obj > AutoDopNetwork > grain_color), but not the shape or material.

Specifically, I'm trying to create dozens of glass orbs falling. Is there a better way to do this than the Grain Shelf Tool/Dry Sand Tool?
