Nice -- I wish it was backported to 19.5 also (if it's an easy fix)

I submitted a report through support, and went through trying to set the whole LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libc_malloc_debug.so thing, but what made it work for me is this

export HOUDINI_USE_HFS_OCL=0

I guess it's either a driver or opencl library thing?

The strange thing was that everything else (mplay, gplay, etc etc) was working, it was only the main Houdini app that was crashing.

I'm not using much opencl atm (as far as I can tell -- although I did try a quick vellum sim and it was working) so I'm good as far as I don't run into any other crashes

(UPDATE: this is Houdini 19.5.897)

Hi, just wanted to confirm that this was really helpful and made it work on Manjaro 23.1.0 ("vulcan") and Houdini 20.0.

sudo mkdir /etc/init.d/

I did this before installing the license server.

Then I just copied the sesinetd.service that comes with Houdini into /usr/lib/systemd/system

then I ran

systemctl enable --now sesinetd.service
