Alembic issue with polyextrude 2025年3月31日8:36

hi,

i have a cloth that is simulated single sided. then i polyextrude that cloth to get a thickness.
when exporting to alembic, the alembic doesnt interpolate in subframes...only whithout the polyextrude, the alembic interpolates in subframes...

is this a bug of the polyextrude? doe anybody also expirienced that behaviour?

want to ask, how to achieve something like the tile-sampler in substance designer, where you have an input image that is sampled and on the sample points another image is placed with that sampled color and randomized rotations and scales...
any hints are welcome

Vellum Cloth and Painted Attributes 2025年3月19日4:53

hi,

i need some advice concerning vellum with a painted mask...

i have a vellum cloth mesh and on that mesh i want to modulate its friction over time, so it can slide easily over a collision and other cloth objects.

i painted a mask attribute and using that attribute as a multiplier inside the vellum solver with a pop-wrangler and some spare parameters:

f@friction = fit(@mask,0,1,chf("min"), chf("max");
f@dynamicfriction = fit(@mask,0,1,chf("min"), chf("max");

when simulating with 1 substep, everything works as expected and i can see how the friction is modulated where the mask is...
as soon as i inrease substeps and constraint iteration to get a better simulation, the friction isnt workin anymore. it looks like the whole mesh has only one friction value and does not respect my "mask".
does increasing substeps somekind override the friction? or do i miss something in the vellum attributes?
