FLIP fluid vs VDB from Particles surface size mismatch 2024年12月9日22:03
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a FLIP fluid simulation in Houdini, and I've noticed that the surface field generated by the FLIP Solver is significantly larger compared to the one created using the VDB from Particles node with the same particles.
Here are the key details of my setup:
The Particle Radius Scale in the FLIP Solver is set to 1.2 (same as in the VDB from Particles node).
Surface Tension is turned off.
Reseeding is disabled.
The VDB from Particles node is using its default settings.
The particle radii match between both methods.
Despite these matching parameters, the FLIP surface appears to be much larger and more inflated. I suspect it could be related to parameters like Smoothing Bandwidth, Surface Extrapolation, or Threshold, but I’m not entirely sure where the issue lies.
Could anyone provide insights or suggestions on what might be causing this discrepancy and how I can adjust the FLIP Solver to produce a surface field that more closely matches the VDB from Particles result?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,
jim
