Thanks for the tutorial. I may be missing something basic, but I'm having trouble getting this to work consistently. Painting on the paint_length node works fine, and when clicking the display flag on the guideprocess node, I can see the masked fur length. However, after selecting the guideprocess node itself, all the fur gets set to the same length again.
Additionally, when going back to the paint_length node, the painting job is not visible until I click on the object with the brush tool again.
Hi ajk48n, I got it! In the Paint node, there is an "Apply And Clear Stencil" button in the operation tab, just press it after painting some strokes. The stroke will be apllied to the stencil and will stay there even after selecting another node. Before pressing this button you can also change the color or the blending mode of the previous strokes you made.
From the help: Accumulate To Stencil See about accumulate to stencil . By default, the operation is applied and the stencil cleared after every brush stroke. When this option is on, Houdini does not apply the stencil until you click Apply and Clear Stencil. Apply & Clear Stencil Applies the operation and clears the stencil. This is equivalent to right-clicking in the viewport.
Yeah!!! Alos got it now: if we make changes to the paint_length node, and get back to the guidegroom node, we have to click on recache strokes for the strokes to be able to reflect the changes upstream!

Any idea what may be happening?

I have got the same problem.
Also it seems once you painted one time, if you try to go back and paint again , the length is not updating anymore.
Other bug deleting the hair and trying to undo crashes houdini.

Thats so awesome that we don't loose our grooming even after changing the paint map, a big problem I have in another package!

All good - There is plenty of tutorials which teaches how to edit hair and fur, but why no one show how to set up animations for fur or hair.

Can you paint with symmetry?
andehpandeh 5 年, 8 ヶ月 前 |
in the paint sop node, there's a symmetry tab next to operation/brush/symmetry (you might have to change the axis so it mirrors properly)
