This video takes you through the best way to setup fractured glass without resorting to tricks to hide the interior pieces.

The default difficulty with rendering glass is that, transparent nature of glass exposes the interior pieces of the fractured object, yielding undesirable results.

With only two nodes and one click, houdini does it magic to remove the problem in a flash.
