Fudged with gwavefront to avoid a problem which was causing memory usage to skyrocket on IRIX when loading large files. This was due mainly to the memory management on IRIX, and not really a bug in our code. In any case, we avoid this by doing less allocations in general.

There was a bug in computing derivatives when ray-tracing instanced or motion blurred geometry. This would have caused incorrect shading derivatives to be computed and therefore bad filtering in reflections/refractions.

This fix causes shading to be potentially different from prior versions of mantra.
