There's a new output driver which can be used to create archives for rendering. It's basically like a super-set of the geometry output driver. The output driver can create an archive by merging the geometry of several separate objects.

Archives can be generated for mantra or for RIB streams.

Mantra archives are simply .bgeo files. Care must be taken when archiving multiple objects with regards to attribute handling. All objects are merged into a single piece of geometry for output to the archive.

Unlike the geometry output driver, the RIB archive generation can output archives containing multiple attribute blocks, nested archives, sub-division surface (and other geometry controls), curves, and most standard RIB features found in the RenderMan output driver.

Saving and rendering files from the compositor is now just as fast as interactive cooking. Interrupting a render is also much more responsive now.

Operator Type Libraries created after this version cannot be loaded in versions of Houdini prior to this one. Older Operator Type Libraries will still load in newer versions of Houdini.
