There is a new output driver available via. proto_install. The output driver supports the Sun Grid Engine distributed task system and is currently implemented as a network rendering solution. The Sun Grid Engine is currently released for Linux and Solaris and is a separate product which can be found at www.sun.com. There is an open source version as well as an enterprise solution offered by Sun.

A new environment variable, HOUDINI_UISCALE, has been added to make it easier to adjust the size of Houdini's UI (the fonts, icons, and menus). At it's default value of 100, things will be rendered at 85 dpi (the previous default on non-Windows platforms). Higher values will generate larger icons and fonts, smaller values smaller. To revert to the previous behaviour set it's value to -1.
