    Another amazing release!!!

There are a few things that were either hinted at in the past that I was hoping for, or things that were not hinted in the past, but I was still hoping for:

    - High level, artist friendly animation tools overhaul… I think it was said that it was mentioned in the past demos that sideFX were very close on this
    - Quad remesher
    - UI enhancements - more interactivity, improved viewport - faster and less buggy (refresh issues)
    - Feather system was mentioned in the past

I was also hoping for (I guess I’m spoiled with those amazing massive releases) to see updates to:
    - Material system… as a new user I’m completely confused and overwhelmed where I develop materials in… there are multiple note
    - COPS redesign and integration to a point where it could compete with Substance Designer/Painter… maybe something bridging COPS and MaterialX and other material authoring networks

I don’t know how you guys get all of this done is such a short period of time!

Every Houdini release is a celebration. Only of the few industry programs what really advance in every release. But at the same time I absolutely agree with you. It feels like in this version they are focusing on finally DOP-to-SOP transition and Karma/Solaris. The latter one is a huge deal, and hopefully it's gonna be good now (Karma was lacking in features / Solaris was ... solaris). It's great, and those things needed time to be developed. But...

Yeah, I'm really waiting for a animation-focused release. Something in a way of Cascadeur app, and I was hoping this one will be... it. :)
And the COP2, I put it in every x.x wishlist on the forum needs to get to COP3. :))))

In any case, great release none-the-less

Why do they write in Chinese?

    • Njordy 2 years, 4 months ago  |

Because they are Chinese, чувак ;)

Most of us are not native English speakers and that doesn't mean we are disrespectful writing in our own language in the middle of English content though...

This apart, that's a nice release.

I wish sidefx would make a nanite-like viewport to handle almost infinite geo display.

We need a production ready MPM solver to match other vfx plataforms like ThinkinParticles or Bifrost. Thanks for your work guys.

I'm personally waiting for something like the water wave shape control feature around the floating objects... (decreasing dispersion of wave shape around wake boat f.e.) I tried hundreds of experiments, but I can't obtain satisfaction result, like PhoenixFD does. :(
