Houdini vs maya for animation / rigging ?

Hi,

I've read here and there that Houdini, even if it includes an animation/rigging function, is really not “made” for that and that anyone who wants to do animation should rather use maya etc. is that true that animation rigging is much harder/complicated/less complete than with maya for example?

You gonna tell me to test it, but i didn't even start yet learning houdini :p

I believe the guys at We Can Dance use houdini only and they've got some cool character animation in their portfolio. Nevertheless I would disagree that it's not made for that and although some other software might be more animation focused and have a myriad of tools for that I know that houdini has all you'd need for that. I can't speak to how easy it would be though as my focus is on effects… I've done rigging in maya though and it's not always straightforward, specially when you have to create expressions to drive attributes and stuff.
